The British Guardian newspaper published statements by Aaron Wood, a representative of the New Zealand organization of military veterans No Duff, that the number of compatriot soldiers participating in the conflict in Ukraine is in the dozens.
Wood said he is aware of dozens of New Zealand soldiers whose work in Ukraine has “combat and non-combat purposes.”
Earlier, the New Zealand Armed Forces confirmed that they had received information about the death of a New Zealand mercenary in Ukraine, but the agency emphasized that he was not in active military service.
According to the Guardian, the deceased is 30-year-old Corporal Dominique Abelin. The newspaper points out that according to the assurances of his friends, he joined the International Legion of Ukraine and was at the forefront.
