The Russian telecom operator Tele2 (LLC T2 Mobile) in September 2023 expires the contract with the Swedish Tele2 AB to use the Tele2 brand. This was told to Vedomosti by a source close to the operator and the CEO of a large IT company. Tele2 is not going to carry out rebranding within the specified period, the operator’s representative stated categorically.
The representative of the Swedish Tele2 Fredrik Hallston refused to disclose to Vedomosti the expiration date of the contract for the use of the Tele2 brand by the Russian operator, citing the confidentiality of the agreement. He clarified that the Swedish company does not plan to renew the permission to use the brand after the expiration date. Trademark rights do not in any way affect the use by the operator of a license to provide communication services, that is, after the expiration of the contract with the Swedish company, the Russian operator will be able to continue serving subscribers.
