The Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory, Alexander Osipov, explained why payments are introduced to the military from the region for capturing tanks in Ukraine. According to him, this is necessary to maintain morale and motivation. Mr. Osipov noted that “the Transbaikalians are Siberian people”, and I would like them to do everything “wisely” – “without excessive enthusiasm and haste.”
“Therefore, of course, when someone scares them with some kind of tanks, they enthusiastically rush to show Kuz’kin’s mother to all these overseas foreign technical things. So I’m worried, first of all, that they do it reasonably, calmly, without excessive enthusiasm and haste, wisely. And secondly, of course, for the results they are worthy of encouragement, ”said Mr. Osipov (quote from “RIA News”).
January 30 Alexander Osipov ordered pay the military up to 3 million rubles. from the budget for the capture of tanks delivered to Ukraine by Western countries. The governor signed a decree according to which 3 million rubles are due for the capture of a Leopard tank, and 1 million for destruction. Capture of an M1 Abrams tank will be rewarded with 1.5 million rubles, destruction – 500 thousand rubles.
On January 25, Germany announced the delivery of 14 German Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and allowed other countries to re-export them. On the same day, the United States announced the transfer of Abrams tanks to Kyiv. After that, Ukraine requested missiles and fighter jets from its Western allies.
