The head of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, said that 740 thousand people submitted applications to participate in remote electronic voting in the presidential elections. Another 160 thousand citizens submitted an application through the Mobile Voter service.
“740 thousand applications have already been submitted in order to be able to vote in those regions where remote electronic voting will take place, and about 160 thousand applications have been submitted to use the Mobile Voter, that is, these are our voters who will be in the time of voting days is not at your usual place of residence, but somewhere else in Russia,” Ella Pamfilova said at a meeting of the commission (quoted from TASS).
According to her, it is necessary to continue to inform people about possible forms of voting. The head of the Central Election Commission clarified that it is possible to submit an application for electronic voting at the State Services, at the MFC or at the precinct commission.
Acceptance of applications for remote voting began on January 29. About 38 million voters from 29 regions can participate in it.
From March 15 to 17, presidential elections will be held in Russia. Currently, the Central Election Commission has registered four candidates: Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party), Vladislav Davankov (New People) and Vladimir Putin (self-nominated). Two more politicians are at the stage of checking signatures in their support – Boris Nadezhdin (Civil Initiative) and Sergei Malinkovich (Communists of Russia).
Previously, the representative of the Central Election Commission Nikolai Levichev reportedthat the Russian Rada, which went to the elections as a self-nominated candidate, submitted 476 signatures instead of the required 300 thousand. Self-nominated Anatoly Batashev reported about the lack of signatures for registration. Several other candidates had previously refused to continue participating in the elections.
