63 ships with nearly 2,000 migrants arrived in Italy in a day

The newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore reported that 1,826 migrants arrived in Lampedusa, Italy in 24 hours on 63 boats and ships.
In addition to them, on the night from Friday to Saturday and on Saturday morning, another 519 refugees arrived on the island south of Sicily.
Thus, 3,983 people ended up in the center for the reception and accommodation of migrants, while the center is designed for 400 temporary residents, the newspaper notes.
Local authorities are trying to distribute migrants to other cities and regions of Italy.
It is noted that in Sicily, in the port of Porto Empedocle, a transit point was opened to identify migrants, who will then be sent to the regions of Abruzzo, Veneto, Calabria and others.
Earlier it was reported that since the beginning of this year, 100,000 migrants have arrived in Italy by sea. The same number of them arrived in the country for the whole of 2022. Many refugees have to be evicted from the camps to accommodate new arrivals.
