During the state of emergency, the Moldovan authorities suspended the licenses of six TV channels for “incorrect coverage of events in Ukraine”, according to local Telegram channels.
Among those subject to restrictions are the channels Primul in Moldova, RTR Moldova, Accent TV, NTV Moldova, TV6, Orhei TV.
Recall that immediately after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine on February 24 this year, Moldova introduced a state of emergency. As a result, in particular, Russian TV channels, the Sputnik Moldova website and a number of other Russian information resources were banned.
Earlier, the head of the Moldovan Information and Security Service (ISS), Alexander Mustyatsa, said that Russia was waging an information war against Moldova. The head of the special service expressed this opinion in an interview with Radio Chisinau, published on social networks. According to him, a number of politicians and public figures are trying to “influence public opinion using fakes and manipulations.” The head of the SIS stressed that among these agents of influence there are also supporters of Russia. At the same time, the service is “working on their neutralization,” he assured.
Opposition forces and many journalists in Moldova call the introduced measures a restriction of freedom of speech. At the moment, such restrictions apply in almost all Western countries unfriendly to Russia, including the United States and the European Union.
