150 people joined the ranks of billionaires according to Forbes in 2023

In the annual list of world billionaires from Forbes 150 new names appeared. The cumulative fortune of the new billionaires is $344 billion. Among the newcomers to the rating are, in particular, designer Tom Ford (a fortune of $2.8 billion), basketball player LeBron James ($1 billion) and golfer Tiger Woods ($1.1 billion).
The richest newcomer to the list of billionaires is 30-year-old Mark Mateschitz, who is worth an estimated $34.7 billion. In October 2022, he inherited a 49% stake in Red Bull after the death of his father, Dietrich Mateschitz.
The richest woman to top the billionaire list is Rohika Cyrus Mistry, widow of Cyrus Mistry, who was chairman of India’s Tata Sons. In September 2022, he died in a car accident. Forbes estimates her net worth at $7 billion. Only 27 out of 150 newcomer billionaires are women.
Most of the billionaires who have joined the list are people who have earned their fortune, not inherited it – 92 people.
The country leading in the number of new billionaires in 2023 was the United States (51 people). The 2nd place was shared by China and India, which each have 16 representatives on the list.
The largest number of billionaires appeared in the financial sector, in the fields of fashion and trade, industry, technology, real estate and sports.
April 4 introduced annual ranking of the richest people in the world. It was headed by the owner of the French concern LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy) Bernard Arnault. The publication estimated his fortune at $211 billion (against $158 billion a year ago). When assessing fortunes, the publication relied on the value of shares of companies owned by billionaires and exchange rates on March 10, 2023.
