103 million euros frozen on Russian and Belarusian accounts in Lithuania

In Lithuania, about 103 million euros have been frozen on the accounts of legal entities and individuals from Russia and Belarus. About this with reference to the Financial Crimes Investigation Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania writes Interfax.

The funds are frozen as part of international sanctions against Russia and Belarus. In particular, funds on the accounts of Russian companies were frozen in the amount of more than 69.51 million euros and $810,000. We are talking about sanctions against nine legal entities associated with Russia.

Also under the restrictions were six companies and one individual from Belarus. 23.71 million euros and $7.68 million were frozen in their accounts.

Funds that people who fell under the restrictive measures of the European Union tried to transfer to Lithuania were blocked. The amount of such funds is more than 1.33 million euros, more than $1.583 million, as well as more than 215,000 rubles.

In May reportedthat several legal entities and one individual subject to EU sanctions against Russia and Belarus have about 61.6 million euros frozen in their accounts in Lithuania. The total amount of incoming frozen funds subject to EU sanctions against their senders amounted to almost 740,000 euros, $1.5 million and 285,000 Russian rubles. For several persons, the ability to use three apartments and one land plot is blocked.

After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, the United States, Great Britain, Canada, EU member states and others imposed sanctions on Russian companies, businessmen and officials. In November 2022, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, argued that the West had blocked 300 billion euros of central bank reserves and 19 billion euros of private funds of businessmen associated with Russia.
