Yuri Loza revealed the secret of Yuri Shatunov

“I know that the first song with which he came to his composer was “The Raft”

On September 6, the idol of millions Yuri Shatunov turns 50 years old. More precisely, it would have been fulfilled: a year ago, a popular singer suddenly died. Friends and colleagues of Yuri, in front of whom the formation of the artist took place, today remembered and told MK about Shatunov.

“Yurka and I could talk on the phone for hours,” recalls Shatunov’s old friend, TV presenter Lera Kudryavtseva, to MK. – We always had something to discuss, and we talked a lot about life, about music. We had our own questions, recently they related to the fight against Razin. Yurka was a very kind and bright person. “Tender May” is such a classic for Russia as the Beatles are for the planet.

The friendship between Shatunov and Kudryavtsev was carried through the years. As Lera Kudryavtseva recalls, the songs of “Tender May” sounded from every open window. A whole generation grew up under them, fell in love, suffered and rejoiced.

“Shatunov is a cult figure of pop culture and an absolutely tragic character who took with him the secret of Tender May,” lawyer Ekaterina Gordon tells MK. – We talked with him several times in connection with the fact that he was suing Andrei Razin. A lot of dirty stories are hidden around the group, and we know about the tragic fate of other heroes of this team. In semi-hints, director Shatunova said that “tender May” was “tough”.

I hope one day someone will have the courage to say who Razin is, why the groups gathered from orphans and children from dysfunctional families, and what really happened there. More than once I tried to talk Yura, but he refused on principle, because reality traumatized him. Yura was an absolute good-natured man. I have extremely positive impressions from him.

– While the “White Roses” sounded from every iron, I hated them with every fiber of my musical ears! – admits “MK” singer Irina Shvedova. – From these aching intonations, sounding from somewhere in my nose, I wanted to run to the ends of the world. Time has passed, and these songs already seem sweet to me – in comparison with what sounds today. Just songs promoted by the genius of Razin. Well, not the Beatles, right?

“I came across Yura mainly on tour and backstage,” Lyubov Voropaeva, a songwriter, admits to MK. – Shatunov was a guest at my shows at Kristall. He was always shy when he saw us with Dorokhin (composer Viktor Dorokhin. – Note. ed.) lowered his eyes. Spoiled by the attention of female fans, he was a very modest guy. I have never heard from anyone about his whims or “kookies”. Having matured, he became a good musician, I followed his work. It’s a pity that he left so early.

“Many tried to figure out the Shatunov phenomenon, and some tried to repeat it,” says singer Yuri Loza in an interview with MK. – It seems to me that several components coincided here – the simplicity of the songs, appearance, voice, biography and the heyday of the cassette industry. Shatunov was a positive person, he had no enemies, except for Razin. Yura adequately assessed his place in this life. I know that the first song with which he came to his composer was “The Raft”. Kuznetsov himself spoke about this (composer of “Tender May” Sergey Kuznetsov. – Note ed.). Many people sang this song then. We crossed paths with Shatunov on a TV show a year before his death. I liked that he himself adequately treated his popularity. Didn’t “turn on a star” and kept trying to show off his own, more mature work.
