From “Bodyguards” to “Brother-2”: the most famous film guards are named

According to the plot of “Bodyguards”, three boxers, fired from the team for hacking at fights without rules, accidentally become the bodyguards of a successful lawyer. And if the fist part of the new work is generally clear to them, then the clash with the world of luxury and Rublev’s morals is still a test of strength. And the guys are ready to try everything for themselves.

Despite the name, the trio of bodyguards (Alexander Levin, Oleg Gaas, Yegor Ovchinnikov) can hardly be called the main characters. They often appear in the frame, but Dmitry Lysenkov, who plays a lawyer, and Sergei Makovetsky, in the small role of his father, most shamelessly draw all the attention to themselves. Maybe it’s a matter of acting experience, maybe the scriptwriters came up with roles for Lysenkov and Makovetsky with a lot of semitones, but the diligent portrayal of narrow-minded boxers immediately turns out to be in the shadow of just a smirk of Vakhtangov’s flight and the phrase “how delicious vodka smells from you.”

If you do not pay attention to the obvious difference between how the young and those who are older play, then the bodyguards in this series turn out to be people much happier than their employers. The idea that wealth and happiness do not live together is not at all new and is exploited quite often in local TV shows. So the hero of Lysenkov in his design house suffers from a sense of the artificiality of the world he paid for. The lover is with him obviously because of the money, and all these “prepare pussy, I’m going” are hopelessly far from real feelings. Relations with her daughter are not very good, and smiles and compliments from others are too reminiscent of written bills.

Guards in this situation should not pay for anything. Everything is either included in their salary, or they get it for youth and splashes of testosterone. In general, the very case when strong fists and the most ingenuous view of the world evoke much more sympathy from others than the ability to weave intrigues in the scenery of a heavy suite.

Yurok, Lizcher and Cloud may have turned out to be a little on the same face, although they were probably meant as a modern reincarnation of three rather different Russian heroes. In the series, they are stubborn, but capable of showing sincerity. Type common for cinema, but not the only one.

Boris, bodyguard of Irina Saltykova, “Brother-2” (Alexander Karamnov)

“Don’t set Irina up” is probably the biggest phrase of the actor in Brother-2, but the character played by Alexander is clearly not superfluous – there are simply no such things in Balabanov’s films. The role of Boris was the third in a row for Karamnov, but it was she who gave the start to her career. When Alexander got on the set of “Brother-2”, the actor was already under forty, so in all his films he is an adult, with a decisive look and the intention to resolve all problems not only with words. On the theater stage, a graduate of the RATI plays various characters in both classical and modern drama plays. In movies and TV shows, he is usually a security guard, a military man, an employee of law enforcement agencies, a person with a military past. And in such images, he is downright a standard.

Ivanna, “Body Guardian” (Irina Apeksimova)

In the filmography of the popular actress, there are projects of different genres, but action films and detectives occupy a significant place in her film career. The charisma of a woman who, despite her wasp waist, will stop a galloping horse, of course, is conducive to such films. In “The Bodyguard” (2007), Irina took up arms not for the first time and again showed that both the lipstick and the gun in her hands are absolutely interchangeable. In addition, the image, reminiscent of the main character of “Nikita” by Luc Besson, suits her very well.

Lev Borisovich, “CHOP” (Sergey Stepin)

Sergey Stepin is one of those rare actors who can become the kings of an episode and be remembered even for a very small role. “CHOP” has become, perhaps, the most popular local series about security guards, and the character of Stepin (in this project, the actor played the main role for the first time) has been firmly associated with this profession for several years now. Of course, we are talking about a comedy, and it is difficult to draw conclusions about the Chopovites from it, but the intention to protect not only the material, but also the moral, that is, to teach how to live, was peeped quite accurately by many guards. After “CHOP” Sergey Stepin repeatedly lamented from the screen about times and customs and became one of the most famous comedians.

Viktor Maltsev, “Bodyguard” (Eduard Trukhmenev)

Eduard is a little disingenuous when he talks in an interview about the taboo on films with an excess of eroticism, swearing, on chernukha and projects about cops. Several seasons of The Bodyguard became a very noticeable episode in his career, and some of the above, of course, was in them. Eduard got into this project already at a conscious age, in his forties, and with solid theatrical experience both in his native Minsk and in Moscow. To become a convincing bodyguard, the actor trained hard under the guidance of special forces officers, but the popularity of the series was probably worth all the hardships of filming. Against the background of those who usually play bodyguards with us, Trukhmenev is an actor with an unexpected type for this role. However, if the producers were looking for someone with the charisma of James Bond, then they guessed it. Eduard did not become a sought-after serial security guard. He is regularly offered roles in detective stories, but the actor is also lucky with melodramas.

Guard Gena, Univer (Andrey Sviridov)

Unlike his colleagues, Andrei does not need to learn the intricacies of the work of security guards before reincarnating as such a character. Sviridov himself worked as a bodyguard, and at the Hollywood level. Already in the fifth grade, Andrei stood out for his height, so he received an offer to try his hand at the basketball section. At the age of nineteen, Sviridov, as part of the Belarusian national team, became the European champion at the youth championship, after which the athlete was invited to the United States, where he studied and played for the George Washington University team. After a back injury, I had to forget about sports, and Andrei decided to try his hand at cinema. The former basketball player entered an acting school in New York and at the same time worked as a security guard. After moving to Los Angeles, Andrei regularly accompanied stars ranging from Halle Berry to John Travolta to premieres. Then they began to offer small episodes, but the turning point was the acquaintance with Andrei Krasko, who called him to the film “Tumbler”. Thus began Sviridov’s career in Russia. He played security guards in “Don’t Be Born Beautiful” and “Happy Together”, and in “Univer” and the spinoff “SashaTanya” his silent role grew to a very significant one.
