Yeti Airlines, whose plane crashed in Nepal, will suspend scheduled flights on January 16 as a sign of mourning for the dead passengers. This is stated in a publication on website carrier statement.
“As a sign of mourning for the passengers who died in the Yeti Airlines ATR 72-500 plane crash, we inform you that all Yeti Airlines scheduled flights for January 16, 2023 have been canceled,” the company said, adding that rescue flights will continue.
Yeti Airlines Representative Pemba Sherpa informed TASS that all 72 people on board, including four crew members, were killed. He also did not confirm the earlier information about a few survivors. “That’s not true,” he said.
Sherpa added that the identification of the bodies of the dead will begin on January 16.
On January 15, an ATR 72 passenger plane en route to Pokhara from Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, crashed on landing between the old airport and Pokhara International Airport.
News18 was the first to report that all 68 passengers and 4 crew members were killed. The Russian embassy in Nepal said that four Russian citizens could be on board, then their death was confirmed by Ambassador Alexei Novikov. Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a telegram of condolences to Nepalese President Devi Bhandari in connection with the tragedy.
