“Yandex” will pay 100 million rubles to “white hackers” for revealing vulnerabilities

Yandex will increase the total amount of payments in the Bug Hunt program in 2023. Yandex will allocate 100 million rubles to reward specialists who are looking for vulnerabilities in the company’s IT products and infrastructure. This is 2.5 times more than a year earlier, according to message companies.
Bug Hunt is Yandex’s ongoing program to reward computer security specialists who find vulnerabilities in IT company products. Users aged 14 and over can participate in the Bug Hunt. Since its launch in 2012, over 4,500 researchers have participated in the program, reporting more than 16,000 technical vulnerabilities found in web services.
Since the beginning of 2023, Yandex has already paid 35.5 million rubles to white hat hackers. Most of the awards came from the January competition, with a tenfold increase in payouts for finds in the Remote Code Execution and SQL Injection categories. For finding errors in these categories, the company paid 12 million, 7.5 million and 3.7 million rubles.
In 2022, the total amount of payments under the Bug Hunt program amounted to RUB 39.7 million. Over the past year, 414 researchers took part in it. 277 “white hat hackers” received the reward. The most active participant of the program sent 64 reports and received 43 payouts. It is claimed that all found errors have been fixed.
