“Yandex” presented a scooter of its own design

During the presentation of Yet another Conference (YaC), Yandex presented its own electric scooters for the Yandex Go kicksharing service, which are planned to be brought to the streets in the spring of 2023. Scooters, according to the company, are designed “taking into account the specifics and road infrastructure of Russian cities”: they received high ground clearance, front and rear shock absorbers and magnesium alloy bodies.
The fact that the Wind company, the purchase of which Yandex announced in 2021, is developing an electric scooter for the Yandex Go service, earlier reported “Vedomosti”. According to the publication, Yandex expects to increase the fleet of scooters from 20,000 to 70,000 by spring, with up to 70% to be accounted for by its own model. Sources of the newspaper estimated the development cost at $10-15 million.
In addition to the electric scooter, Yandex presented plans for the development of Yandex Maps at YaC. The company expects to increase the detail of roads, buildings, stops, underpasses and other objects on city maps. Yandex promises to present the first changes regarding the display of key highways in Moscow in the preliminary version of Yandex Maps next week.
