Pensions and benefits from January 1 will be paid by the Social Fund of Russia

From January 1, 2023, the Pension Fund of Russia and the Social Insurance Fund will be merged into one – the Social Fund of Russia.

Now all services and social payments will be provided by this new fund. As for pensions, as the head of the Russian Ministry of Labor Anton Kotyakov said in his report to Russian President Vladimir Putin, in general, the dates of their payments will remain the same, but some will receive the next payments earlier than usual.

“If, for example, a pension from the Pension Fund came on the 5th, then a citizen will continue to receive a pension on the 5th, while part of the January pensions is traditionally paid in advance. That is, if an elderly person received a pension at the bank, and the date of transfer of funds falls on weekends or holidays, then the money will be transferred to his account earlier – in the last days of December, ”the minister said.

Home pensions will continue to be delivered according to the usual schedule – from the 3rd to the 25th day of each month, including in January.

Payments of benefits for temporary disability will also be carried out in the same mode, on the basis of an electronic certificate of incapacity for work. After receiving information about the closure of the sick leave, the necessary verification and settlement, the funds will be sent directly to the citizen’s account.

Also, the Social Fund of Russia will make lump-sum and monthly payments to citizens of all privileged categories, including a new unified allowance for children aged 0 to 17 years and pregnant women.

“The law on this support measure comes into force on January 1, 2023, but citizens will already be able to fill out electronic applications on the public services portal from December 28. After January 1 and after the entry into force of the law, all applications received from the portal will be transferred to the Social Fund for consideration, and the first payments will come to families in January,” said Anton Kotyakov.

The unification of the Pension Fund and the Social Insurance Fund, as well as the transition to a single rate of insurance premiums, will also be convenient for employers. Instead of calculating and paying contributions separately for each fund, it will be necessary to make a single contribution, and instead of five different reports to off-budget funds, only one single reporting form will have to be filled out.
