“Yandex Music” will change the rules for posting content – Kommersant

Yandex Music, together with the Music Industry Association, plans to introduce new rules for posting content on the site. It is assumed that the compositions uploaded to the site will first be checked using special algorithms, and then manually by moderators. This is reported in press release Yandex.

According to the press release, hybrid moderation is aimed at protecting children, as well as identifying content on sensitive topics. It is planned that the compositions on the site will be marked with age marks, and some compositions will be excluded from the recommendations or will be removed from the site.

“Our service is developing rapidly, and the amount of content is growing every day, and we understand our responsibility to our listeners. The comfort and safety of our users is as important to us as the freedom of creativity, which is why we decided to be the first to use these recommendations. They will help us find a balance and ensure that our listeners feel comfortable,” says Alexandra Sagalovich, head of Yandex Music.

The methodology for applying these recommendations will be developed by an expert council at the Scientific and Educational Laboratory of Linguistic Conflictology and Modern Communication Practices at the National Research University Higher School of Economics. “Our expert council will develop criteria for evaluating creative content that can be used to distinguish, for example, real aggression from a creative technique, image, or just genre features,” comments Maxim Krongauz, professor at the National Research University Higher School of Economics.

Head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications Alexander Khinshtein in his Telegram channel notes that if the new rules turn out to be effective, then “legislators and Roskomnadzor will not have to take tough measures to enforce mandatory control and impose large penalties.”

He added that “hybrid moderation will continue to avoid incidents when Russians on the eve of Victory Day are offered to listen to frankly misanthropic rhymes.”

July 5 Roskomnadzor made up a protocol on LGBT propaganda against the CEO of Yandex LLC Artem Savinovsky. Since 2016, he has been responsible for media services, which include Kinopoisk, Yandex Music and Yandex Plus.

Most Russian online movie theaters have now been fined for showing LGBT people. Roskomnadzor drew up protocols for 19 streaming sites out of 23 operating in the country. Among those held accountable are Start, Kinopoisk, More.tv, ivi and Premier.
