Yandex has begun final testing of self-driving cars – Kommersant

Yandex (MOEX: YNDX) moved to the final stage of testing unmanned vehicles in Innopolis. The company’s press service reported this to Kommersant. The company noted that it was the first in Europe to begin testing such transport.
Testing of self-driving cars takes place in three stages. In the first, the tester is in the driver’s seat and is not driving the car, but is ready to take over control if necessary. In the second stage, the test driver sits in the passenger seat with an emergency braking device. The final stage, which Yandex has begun today, excludes the driver from being in the car. The car is accompanied by another car with an operator who can make an emergency stop of the unmanned vehicle remotely.
Testing of self-driving cars from Yandex began in Innopolis in 2018. Since that moment, the cars have traveled 1 million km and made 77 thousand trips. The robotaxi service in Innopolis can be ordered by both residents and tourists.
