Wildberries will set a maximum fine of 100,000 rubles for orders during hacks

The amount of deduction for non-fulfillment of orders made during the period of unauthorized access to sellers’ personal accounts will not exceed 100,000 rubles, the Wildberries press service told Vedomosti. This clause will also be included in the offer.

In September, it was reported that the site experienced a wave of hacking into the personal accounts of sellers. Fraudsters set very low prices for non-existent goods (for example, an IPhone 15 for 10 rubles from an office supply seller), and subsequently the sellers refused to fulfill such orders and were fined by the site.

On October 25, several sellers came to the Moscow office of Wildberries to challenge the fines accrued to them. The amounts of deductions range from several thousand rubles to 15 million rubles, as reported by specialized Telegram channels. According to entrepreneurs, the marketplace support ignored their requests.

According to a Wildberries representative, the marketplace will now apply new rules on an individual basis to minimize deductions. “Up to a full recalculation for previous periods, if the results of an internal investigation of the situation confirm the fact of unauthorized access of third parties to the seller’s personal account,” the Wildberries press service clarified.

Earlier, the marketplace announced its intention to introduce a two-factor authentication system when logging into sellers’ personal accounts, as well as sending notifications. Its launch requires making global changes to the platform architecture, and therefore “cannot be done overnight.” The site representative did not provide more specific information about the timing of the introduction of these measures.
