“Yandex” announced the start of sales of Russian IKEA products

Online retailer «Yandex.Market announced the start of sales of all IKEA products remaining in Russia from December 1, the company’s press service reported.

It is specified that 20 million products will gradually appear on the marketplace website, including the most popular of them. At the same time, users will not need to sign up for an electronic queue, the company emphasized. “The market prepared in advance for the increased load: the service will operate as usual – without electronic queues or recording,” the message says.

However, at the first stage, users will have access to a limited number of products to order, “so that they get to as many people as possible.” If the product on the marketplace is over, it will be added the next day, the company explained.

At the moment, delivery is carried out only in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but later the geography will be expanded. Buyers will be able to pick up the goods in different ways, including by ordering delivery to their homes or to the point of issue of the order.

November 18 Yandex.Market informedthat he agreed to buy Russian goods from IKEA. The documents were signed on 16 November. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

IKEA products started sell in a special section on the Yandex.Market website in early August. Then it was reported that products from 11 IKEA suppliers, including from foreign partners, were on sale.

On March 4, IKEA temporarily closed its stores in Russia amid a Russian special operation in Ukraine, logistical problems and sanctions. In mid-June, it became known that the company was looking for buyers for its four factories in Russia, as well as reducing staff and selling off the rest of the goods. In mid-October, the CEO of Ingka Group (the parent company of the retailer), Jesper Brodin, announced the dismissal of 10,000 employees from IKEA, out of a total number of employees in the country of 12,000.

The sale for employees took place at the end of June in the stores of the chain. On July 5, an online sale for customers began, which lasted until August 15. Customers have repeatedly complained about site failures. Difficulties arose due to the large number of people who wanted to buy IKEA products. To solve the problem, the company limited the number of people who can be on the site and make purchases at the same time, and introduced an online queue.
