It should be noted that the task of the award experts this year was to choose the most worthy of the ten names of the finalists (Pavel Basinsky, Sergey Belyakov, Alexei Varlamov, Dmitry Danilov, Oleg Ermakov, Ruslan Kozlov, Afanasy Mamedov, Anna Matveeva, Sofia Sinitskaya and Guzel Yakhina). And at the same time – not to offend the feelings of a patriotic group of writers who believe that Russian authors can become winners of awards and authors of bestsellers only with the tacit approval of some secret literary “behind the scenes”.

However, it is difficult to imagine the results of “BC” that would suit everyone. So let’s take them for granted. Basinsky was awarded to thunderous applause. He received the coveted award from the hands of Vladimir Tolstoy, the presidential adviser on culture, and Dmitry Bak, director of the GMIRL.
