Without its pillars, Macronie destabilized

There were the scandals and the invectives, the slamming desks, the clothing altercations and the endless debates. The new parliamentary deal where the radical left occupies the space and where the far right hinders by its presence, was illustrated during the extraordinary session of the Parliament and the vote of the texts on the health emergency, the purchasing power and the amending finance bill. The presidential camp no longer has an absolute majority in the National Assembly. That’s a fact. But among the “old” parliamentarians of the Macronist party (those with five years or more of seniority), and especially at the Elysée, a wind of nostalgia hovers. We look up in the Hemicycle and we no longer see it. Richard Ferrand, former President of the National Assembly who became during the previous five-year term one of the “totems” of Macronie, has disappeared from the perch since his defeat in the legislative elections in Finistère, taking with him the smell of those cigarettes he smoked in packets and his authority. If the former elected representative of Finistère had been there, would there have been so much hubbub?, wonder those close to the head of state.
“When you live a collective epic and two or three or four or five are missing… Richard was an element of political stabilization. And not only in his function as President of the National Assembly. With Christopher [Castaner], they were essential cogs in the smooth running between the Elysée, Matignon and the Parliament. So, yes, of course, we miss them”observes Marc Fesneau, the Minister of Agriculture and former Minister of Relations with Parliament.
At the end of the legislative elections which turned into a game of massacre for the emblematic figures of Macronie, Emmanuel Macron did not hide his dismay. “We miss them. It’s the hardest part of this period.” the Head of State was moved on July 7, when he received the parliamentarians of the majority at the Elysée. Richard Ferrand was absent like Christophe Castaner, former president of the group La République en Marche (LRM, now Renaissance), eliminated in his stronghold of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence by an almost unknown candidate, Léo Walter, member of La France insoumise (LFI). Within the government, three ministers had to pack their bags less than a month after their appointment, Amelie de Montchalinjust propelled to the Ministry of Ecological Transition, and Brigitte Bourguignonhealth Minister.
