“We are trying to negotiate the import of Russian oil. Although I know that it falls under US sanctions. But we are open to negotiations with Russia,” Mr. Ahsan told RIA Novosti. Note that US sanctions do not prohibit third countries from buying Russian oil.
The diplomat also considers Bangladesh a promising market for Russia due to its growing population. “Bangladesh has 170 million people, although the size of the territory is small. But 17% is middle class, they can buy anything. This is 32 million people, that is, a ready market,” the ambassador said.
