In Russia, in the first two months of 2023, the production of grape wine increased by 10.2% compared to January-February 2022, amounting to 3.4 million decalitres (dal), transmits TASS with reference to the materials of Rosalkogolregulirovanie.

At the same time, the production of champagne for the same period amounted to 1.7 million decalitres (+25.8%), and liquor – 0.17 million decalitres (+31.3%). Russian enterprises increased the production of grape-containing drinks without ethyl alcohol to 0.44 million dal (+23.5%), but reduced the production of such drinks with ethyl alcohol to 3,100 dal (-85.1%). The production of fruit alcoholic products decreased to 0.98 million decaliters (-27.4%).

The production of vodka in January-February decreased by 8.2% and amounted to 9.8 million decaliters, while cognac production increased to 1.2 million decaliters (+6.3%). The total volume of alcoholic products produced in the country, excluding beer, poiret and mead, amounted to 23.8 million decalitres, which is 3.3% more than the results of the same period last year.

As previously reported, sales of spirits with an alcohol content above 25% per year grew up by 7.5% and amounted to 6.8 liters per person. Such a strong increase (according to the results of 2021, the indicator increased by 1.2%, in 2020 – by 3.3%) may be associated with the withdrawal of foreign alcohol markets from Russia, since a number of consumers could buy imported alcohol for future use.

The leaders in the consumption of strong alcohol were regions with a cold climate: Karelia (15.5 liters per person per year), Sakhalin Region (14.9 liters) and Komi with the Magadan Region (14.6 liters). In general, the consumption of this alcohol has increased in most regions. Wine consumption fell to 6.2 liters per person (-5.5%).
