Online retailer Wildberries paid three compensations to sellers totaling 3 billion rubles. after a fire at the company’s warehouse in Shushary near St. Petersburg. Sellers whose goods were damaged in the fire on January 13 received compensation.

“Wildberries paid the third compensation to sellers. Funds have already been credited to sellers’ balances and will be available for withdrawal on February 19,” the company said (quoted from TASS).

The first two compensations were paid to sellers on January 15 and 29. The company noted that the final payment amount will still be determined. “Calculations are made based on information in the Wildberries electronic accounting system. We will notify sellers as soon as we calculate the total amount of compensation, and in case of additional questions, we will consider each case individually,” said Wildberries.

The warehouse in Shushary burned down on January 13, the fire area was 70 thousand square meters. m. Two people were injured. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case due to violations of fire safety rules under the article on abuse of power (Part 1 of Article 201 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). After the fire, Gosstroynadzor said that the warehouse was operating illegally because it did not have an application for commissioning. The company claims that the warehouse has received a conclusion on compliance with city planning regulations and safety requirements.
