Wheat on the stock exchange in Chicago grew in price by 1.2%, reports Bloomberg. As of 08:57 Moscow time, September wheat futures for Chicago stock exchange rises in price by 0.20%, to $6.28 per bushel.
According to the agency, the rise in prices began against the backdrop of an inspection by Russia of the dry cargo ship Sukra Okan bound for Izmail. Incident happened yesterday, August 13th. The dry cargo ship under the flag of Palau was heading to the Ukrainian port of Izmail. The ship’s captain ignored the request to stop, after which the Russian ship opened warning fire. A group of Russian military men eventually landed on a dry cargo ship and inspected it, after which it went to the port. Kyiv promised respond to the incident.
Russia since July 18 suspended participation in a grain deal due to non-fulfillment of its conditions, against the background of which wheat rose in price several times already. In August Ukraine announced Russian ports of the Black Sea are a zone of military threat. The United States and the European Union, with the participation of Romania and Moldova, want to lay alternative routes for the export of grain.
On the consequences of the suspension of the transaction – in the material “Kommersant” “Friends are known in the grain”.
