WhatsApp promised to make informing users more transparent

The WhatsApp messenger, owned by the Meta corporation (recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation), has promised to make informing users about changes in its privacy policy more transparent and understandable. About this today, March 6, reported European Commission. WhatsApp will now more clearly and in detail explain exactly how the rules change and what it may affect, as well as place a button in a prominent place with the ability to accept or reject the change agreement.
By doing so, the messenger responded to the demand of the European Consumer Organization (BEUC), which last year stated that WhatsApp should explain the rules and changes to users in simple and understandable language. According to the organization, by not doing this, the messenger violates EU laws. Following a BEUC complaint, the European Commission in July 2022 demanded that WhatsApp change its rules accordingly and gave the messenger a year to make this change.
