Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov commented on reports that Chinese banks have stopped accepting payments from Russia in yuan. According to him, US and EU pressure on China will not become an obstacle to the development of relations between Moscow and Beijing.

“Of course, unprecedented pressure from the United States and the European Union on China continues, including in the context of relations with us. This, of course, creates certain problems, but cannot become an obstacle to the further development of our trade and economic relations,” Mr. Peskov said during a press call.

He added that Russia and China are able to overcome such difficulties thanks to the highest level of relations between the parties.

Previously Izvestia reportedthat large Chinese banks have stopped accepting payments from Russia in yuan. Among them are Ping An Bank, Bank of Ningbo, China Guangfa Bank, Kunshan Rural Commercial Bank, Great Wall West China Bank and others. Chinese banks with international participation also stopped accepting payments. The publication’s source in one of the Russian banks said that his organization continues to carry out settlements with some other Chinese banks.
