We watch “Rock Beyond” and “Pelevin”

This coming Friday and weekend, from December 2 to 4, Muscovites will be able to see within the framework of the Country.DOC project a selection of the best documentaries of recent times. From now on, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation plans to hold such documentary weekends on a regular basis.

Among the paintings of early December, which are definitely worth seeing, there are at least three. These are the films “Pelevin”, “Rock Beyond” and “Heavenly Crimea”.

The film “Pelevin” directed by Rodion Chepel is a documentary study of the life of the main mystifier of Russian literature, one of the most successful modern writers Viktor Pelevin. Pelevin did not appear in public for two decades. The authors of the picture, using the archives and with the help of conversations with people who are well acquainted with the writer, are trying to recreate the chronology of the amazing events of his biography and immerse themselves in his world, which gives birth to such unusual images.

The painting “Rock Beyond” by Sergei Debizhev is a fixation of the events of the Soviet era, its cut, a demonstration of how rock influenced the minds of Soviet people, whose youth and maturity fell on the period of stagnation and collapse of the Soviet Union. Naturally, the main characters in it are Viktor Tsoi, Boris Grebenshchikov and Sergey Kuryokhin. As in the previous tape, the work of the idols of millions is analyzed by experts. Among them are the artist, musician, legendary man Sergei Bugaev “Africa”, the artist, writer and director Viktor Tikhomirov, and the producer of the “famous American” Marina Albi. Director Sergei Debizhev talks to everyone personally. The trinity of experts was chosen by the director because they knew Tsoi, Grebenshchikov, and Kuryokhin very well in the most important stages of their lives, which coincided with the periods of the formation of Russian rock. In the film, the viewer is immersed in the atmosphere that prevailed in the country at that historical period, spectacularly and chronically presented vivid episodes of the unusual behavior of young people, fans of the songs of the consciousness-ripping “Cinema”, the strange “Aquarium” and the tough “Pop Mechanics”.

The film “Heavenly Crimea” will be offered this time in the director’s version with the author’s voice acting, without cuts, which is always very intriguing if the tape was shown in a modified version before. The picture, like the previous one, was shot by Sergey Gennadievich Debizhev, who managed to tell and visually present the story of a wonderful corner of the Earth that exists on the energy of four elements. The film conveys the special magic of the peninsula, tells about its unique purpose. This is a movie about amazing people, the strength of their spirit, a fantastic landscape and ancient cultures. By the way, this picture was shown two years ago at the Moscow International Film Festival in a competition, and its cameraman received a prize for the best camera work at the Radonezh film festival.

In the selection of this weekend, there is another interesting film – “Hands” directed by E. Grigoriev. He filmed in Siberia and Altai, in the Ural Mountains and in the central part of the country. Talks about those people whose hands work daily. About those who not only produce the material component of our everyday world from wood, metal, concrete and glass, but also inspire and give hope. The heroes of the picture are people of various professions: an anesthesiologist and a steelmaker, a locksmith and a fisherman, a farmer and a furniture maker. The director carefully observes them and suddenly becomes the creator himself.

By the way, such documentary weekends are now planned to be held regularly.

“Our goal,” says producer Konstantin Nafikov, “is to teach the viewer to watch documentaries in cinemas and give him such an opportunity on an ongoing basis.
