Moscow schoolboy won the Swiss “Voice”

The show of the Swiss Voice Tour is not quite the “Voice” that is known all over the world. This is an independent project, but the rules in it are somewhat reminiscent of those in the international show, and the essence is, in general, similar: they choose the most vociferous one, they say goodbye to everyone else.

Everyone who has seen the behind the scenes of such projects will probably agree that it is rather difficult to predict the course of such television competitions. Victories here are more a coincidence than a triumph of logic, and many victors often refer to their triumph as a lucky break. In its own way, it is surprising that Danila ended up on the Swiss Voice Tour also by chance, although the entourage itself was clearly not new to him.

Despite his school age, the young man has already replayed and quailed a lot, because he has been studying music since about the age of four. He tried the violin, piano, for several years he was a soloist in the children’s choir “Giant”, with whom he participated in quite serious concerts, once he even sang with Kobzon. But then he moved to another music school, where he immersed himself in jazz vocals with great pleasure.

Actually, jazz became one of the reasons why Danila flew to Switzerland. In addition to plans to visit his older brother, a pianist and composer living in Geneva, the young man wanted to participate in vocal jam sessions at the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival. “But then we accidentally saw a casting announcement on a TV show and decided to go there too,” recalls Danila’s father in an interview with MK.

Alexey Pervushin, Danila’s father, is also directly related to music. He worked in the studio, organized various concerts as a promoter and quite clearly understands how the industry works, where his son is taking his first steps. By the way, Pervushina’s local competitions weren’t exactly ignored, but the circumstances were clearly not in their favor.

“We didn’t have a very successful story with our Voice,” recalls Alexey Pervushin. – When we first came there to root for our friend Sasha Davydova, we were sitting in the front row, and a lighting lantern fell on Danya. Nothing serious, got off with a bump, but apparently it was a sign. Then we applied, but Dani’s turn did not reach, everyone was recruited earlier. And when they finally passed, then at the blind auditions, perhaps due to a song not chosen in the best way, Danya did not perform at full strength, and no one turned to him.

The current information background is hardly conducive to optimism, especially when it comes to the promotion of the Russian young artist in European media. However, from the very first casting, Danila and his father did not feel anything even remotely resembling a prejudice.

“At first it was more of a sporting interest and a party. In connection with the sanctions, to be honest, I did not believe that a child from Russia would be allowed to go far. But the Swiss turned out to be very loyal, – says Danila’s father. — We were constantly encouraged, and in general, it is much calmer there than at similar projects in Russia. We often have a race for show-offs, but they have fewer show-offs, everything is simpler and kinder. It seems to me that the competition there is not the same as at local shows. Anyone can come to the first casting, even if he doesn’t really know how to sing. By the way, at the first casting, Danya loudly declared that he was from Russia, but in local newspapers he was positioned as a Genevan. The fact is that when registering you need to specify a local address. My eldest son lives in Geneva, and we wrote down his address. I honestly admitted that we are still newcomers and visit a maximum of once a year, but half the city lives there, and as a result, Danya became a Genevan.

The auditions themselves take place in shopping centers in different cities. After several days of selection, a local final is held and one winner is revealed. Two months later – the semi-finals, in which all seventeen finalists from different regions of the country take part. Only four people remain for the final, and in this quartet, along with Danila, was a twelve-year-old girl named Milana, also a Russian, but who moved to France several years ago. There are no blind auditions in the Swiss competition, a procedure that gives so much excitement to both the participants and their parents. But a strict star jury is still present.

“Danya, of course, was worried, although he was already a grated roll, and in the very final he sang worse than at the run,” says Alexey Pervushin. – But the producers and judges saw his previous performances, rehearsals, and it was most likely a complex of factors that played in the victory. In general, in the end, the judges gave him a standing ovation.”

As a prize, Danila got the opportunity to record a track in the legendary London studio Abbey Road, although the main gift to the young singer was presented by the rules of the show. You can’t skip rehearsals for them, and after winning the casting, Danila stayed for two months in Geneva. “This time did not pass without a trace, Danila began to go to the Higher School of Music and entered there a year earlier than we planned,” says the artist’s father. – So he is engaged in vocals, learning to professionally create music, mastering French. Even trying to find a job.
