Hollywood company Warner Bros. banned the channels of the National Media Group (NMG) holding from broadcasting the studio’s films, despite the fact that licensing agreements are in effect for another year and a half. This publication reported “Film Distributor’s Bulletin” with reference to sources.

The NMG includes Channel One, STS, REN TV, Domashny, Channel Five. The holding also serves cable television, including CTC Media, ViP Comedy, TV1000 Action, Da Vinci and others. In December 2016, the president of the holding, Kirill Kovalchuk, came under US sanctions. In 2014 and 2022, sanctions were imposed on Rossiya Bank, one of NMG’s shareholders.

Warner Bros., as well as Disney, Sony, Paramount and Universal Pictures, have suspended work and licensing of their projects in Russia after the start of military operations in Ukraine. Bulletin of the Distributor reported that the films of these companies accounted for about 80% of the Russian market.
