VTB: 27% of Russians do not consider pre-New Year sales profitable

According to the VTB survey, 30% of respondents intend to buy gifts at the New Year sales. A third of Russians intend to spend more than 5 thousand rubles on this, another quarter – from 3 to 5 thousand rubles. 27% of respondents do not consider pre-holiday promotions profitable.
The share of Russians who are ready to shop at sales has generally decreased from 39% in 2021 to 30% this year. 14% of respondents plan to update their wardrobe or prepare their home for the holiday. 33% want to spend large sums on gifts, 22%, on the contrary, prefer relatively inexpensive gifts (from 1,000 to 3,000 rubles). 7% do not plan to give gifts at all.
Half of the respondents want to spend from 1,000 to 5,000 rubles to celebrate the New Year. per person. 12% intend to meet 1,000 rubles, 22% – from 5 thousand to 10 thousand. 70% of Russians plan to celebrate the New Year at home, 11% will go on a visit. 4% will go out of town, 3% – to another city, 2% – to a cafe or restaurant.
Among the most popular activities for Russians during the New Year holidays: watching TV, movies and computer games (49%), going to visit (35%), trips out of town (16%). 12% will go in for winter sports, 6% will go on a trip in Russia, 2% – abroad.
13% have not decided on their plans.
The survey was conducted in December in Russian cities with a population of 100 thousand people, the exact dates are not given. It was attended by 1.5 thousand clients of Russian banks aged 18 to 60 years.
The company “Evotor” said that the Russians have slowed down when buying New Year’s gifts. According to experts, the activity of Russian buyers decreased two weeks before the holiday.
