The Federal Agency for Fishery has abandoned the idea of limiting the export of red caviar from Russia, since its shortage is not expected on the domestic market. This was announced by the head of the department Ilya Shestakov at a press conference.
“As for the ban, we refused it, taking into account the position of the Ministry of Agriculture,” he said (quote according to TASS).
At the same time, Shestakov did not predict prices for red caviar. According to him, the cost of caviar in stores “does not depend on what happens to the fishermen.”
At the beginning of September on WEF Shestakov declaredthat the Federal Agency for Fishery is considering the possibility of limiting the export of red caviar from the Russian Federation due to low forecasts for the catch. Then he explained that restrictive measures may be needed to keep caviar prices down and prevent its shortage.
On November 1, Russia began an experiment to limit the export of salmon caviar from Kamchatka. According to the law, passengers cannot take Kamchatka red caviar from the territory of the region weighing more than 10 kg, manufactured in a non-industrial way, in hand luggage or aircraft luggage.
