Vladimir Potanin won an appeal in his divorce suit – Kommersant

The UK Supreme Court has granted the defense of Russian billionaire Vladimir Potanin regarding his ex-wife’s claim. She claimed a share in Norilsk Nickel, dividends and Russian real estate. Ms. Potanina’s defense previously estimated the claims at $9 billion.
As he writes Reuters, the entrepreneur won an appeal against his ex-wife’s lawsuit. Lawyers said the couple had no ties to Britain during their marriage and that Ms Potanina received tens of millions of dollars after legal proceedings in Russia.
The Supreme Court found that the lower court should not have granted leave to bring a financial claim in the UK. The case was returned to the appeal court. Its consideration will continue.
The Potanins divorced in 2014. Natalia Potanina claims to have received about $40 million from a Russian divorce case, while her ex-husband claims $84 million.
