VK will transfer Delivery Club to Yandex as part of the acquisition of the Zen and News platforms

VK announced that it is acquiring a 100% stake in the Delivery Club delivery service and leaving the joint venture with Sber – O2O Holding, said in a company message.
“VK announces the signing of binding documents, according to which the company will receive a 100% stake in the Delivery Club food and grocery delivery service and withdraw from the membership of O2O Holding,” the press release says. It is specified that the deal is planned to close before the end of this year – after the necessary regulatory approvals are received. The company assured that after the closing of the transaction, VK and Sberbank will remain strategic partners.
After that, the VK holding will transfer the Delivery Club service to Yandex as part of a deal to purchase the Zen and News services. It is today confirmed and in the press service of Yandex, they noted that the binding agreements were signed yesterday, August 22. “After the closing of the Delivery Club transaction and Yandex Food will move to a single technological platform. Due to this, the density of orders, that is, their number per square kilometer, will become higher. Couriers will be able to carry out more deliveries within the area – and, accordingly, earn more. Users, in turn, will receive orders faster, and the choice of restaurants will expand,” the message says.
After the sale of media assets “Yandex» new homepage will become ya.ru – it is through it that you can go to “Yandex.Mail”, use the search and other services of the company.
The joint venture between Sberbank and VK (formerly Mail.ru Group) lasted about three years: the company announced its creation in July 2019. The company then included shares in Delivery Club, Citymobil taxi aggregator, YouDrive carsharing and other assets of the two parties. In March of this year, Citymobil announced the cessation of work, and in May its assets were sold to the owner of the Taxovichkof taxi service. In addition, the company also includes the Samokat express food delivery service and Citydrive carsharing, which will presumably go to Sberbank upon closing the deal.
