The profile of the creator of the Ethereum cryptocurrency Vitalik Buterin on the social network X (formerly Twitter) was hacked, the father of the programmer Dmitry Buterin said. Damage from the hack is estimated at $691 thousand.
Vitalik Buterin’s X page published a post with a phishing link, which stated that Consensys was offering a commemorative NFT in honor of the introduction of the Proto-Danksharding feature in Ethereum, a technology that allows increasing the throughput of Ethereum to 100 thousand transactions per second. The technology was announced in mid-June as part of the Dencun update.
“Ignore this post. Obviously, Vitalik was hacked. He is working to restore access,” Dmitry Buterin wrote on X. The phishing link and post from Vitalik Buterin’s page have now been removed.
