Victoria Tokareva told how Kikabidze cried when he learned about the death of Danelia

The co-author of the script for the legendary film “Mimino” Victoria Tokareva spoke about the illness of “Buba”, revealed one of the most touching episodes in the life of Vakhtang Kikabidze, who did not hide tears at the moment of farewell to Georgy Danelia. Tokareva is sure that only one director was able to “get the essence” from Kikabidze, while everyone else simply used his appearance:

– Kikabidze was seriously ill. He had brain surgery. Blood operation. And he had a hard time postoperative period. When he appeared in public, he walked and held his head straight, like the Apostle – he was afraid to move his head. He defeated this disease, and then even sang. I was always amazed that he lived a long time, I thought that he would not live long because of such health. But luckily he held on. And I remember when George Danelia died, he cried. Our correspondents went to Tbilisi – Kikabizde recently lived on hemodialysis) – and he sat on the screen and cried. And he was like a small child. Because in the films of Danelia Buba was brilliant, but in others, when someone else invited him … It could not be compared. He was talented in the hands of a talented director. Danelia knew how to get the essence out of him, and the rest simply exploited his appearance.
