“Vakhtang experienced severe stress before his death”: Zarubina spoke about the tragedy of Kikabidze

Show business stars mourn the death of Vakhtang Kikabidze. The actor died today at the age of 85. Singer Olga Zarubina believes that the tragedy that happened in his life a little over a year ago influenced the departure of Kikadbize.

“Vakhtang and I met in the early 80s,” says Olga. – I was not a star then, I worked in the Metronome ensemble. At some point, Kikabidze had to go on tour and he needed a band to sing along. And he took us. I was very worried before meeting him.

“Vakhtang was already a big star then,” continues Zarubina. “When I met him, I was surprised to the core. He, despite popular love, was completely without a “crown”. Very humble, humane, smiling man. Thanks to him, I realized for the first time that most talented people do not have a “crown”.

Olga knows that in recent years Kikabidze has been seriously ill. Zarubina believes that his condition worsened due to the tragedy that happened in his life just over a year ago. Then Vakhtang lost his wife, with whom he lived for almost sixty years.

– It is very difficult for a man to survive the departure of his beloved, – says Olga. – Vakhtang experienced severe stress because of her death. Because he loved her incredibly. I know about it absolutely then, because I myself saw their reverent attitude towards each other. Then, during our first joint tour, Kikabidze suddenly became ill. His blood pressure skyrocketed. We all got scared. Irina also found out that her husband was ill. She left everything in Tbilisi and flew to us on tour. Vakhtang nursed as best she could. They were delightful to look at. Such a nice family with a warm, gentle relationship. Of course, it was not easy for Vakhtang to survive such a tragedy – the departure of his beloved. He couldn’t do it. Of course, we will all miss him.
