Veterinary clinics report an increase in demand for microchipping of animals amid mobilization

Demand for pet chipping services has increased in Russia since the start of partial mobilization, several veterinary clinics report RBC. Some veterinarians have suggested that this is due to the need to microchip animals when traveling abroad. In addition, the service of a nanny who visits a pet at home has become more in demand.

How the demand for chipping has grown in different clinics:

• Dr. Hug – 141 chippings in September (27 a year earlier), 37 chippings in the first five days of October;
• Veterinary Diagnostical Medicine — 11 chippings from September 21 to October 11, the service has not been applied to the clinic since July;
• “Biocontrol” – demand from September 22 to October 3 increased by 26.5 times (the number of chippings is not specified);
• VetGlobal – demand has quadrupled since September 21 (the number of chippings is not specified);
• “In good hands” – 50-60 chippings per week (growth not specified);
• “Fat Lori” – an increase of 40% since September 21 (the number of chippings is not indicated).

Representatives of veterinary clinics reported that the demand for chipping and vaccination of animals also grew after the introduction of troops into Ukraine on February 24. For example, the company “In Good Hands” claims that then the demand was even higher – 150-180 chippings per week.

Russia has been discussing the mandatory registration of pets for several years now. In July, the Legislative Assembly of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug submitted amendments to the law on the responsible treatment of animals to the State Duma, involving the “identification and registration” of pets.
