Uzbekistan plans to increase the volume of imports of oil and petroleum products from Russia in 2023 to more than 1 million tons, the Minister of Energy of the Republic, Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov, told reporters on the sidelines of the XVI Eurasian Economic Forum in Samarkand.

“We are looking at oil and petroleum products in general, more than 1 million tons,” he said.

He did not specify how much oil and petroleum products were imported last year, but noted that the volume of supplies was “slightly less.”

The minister also said that this year Uzbekistan has already imported about 300 million cubic meters from Russia in transit through Kazakhstan. m of gas.

In June “Gazprom“and the government of Uzbekistan entered into a contract for the supply of Russian gas to the republic in transit through Kazakhstan. A two-year contract between Gazprom Export (a subsidiary of Gazprom) and Uzgaztrade provides for the supply of Russian gas from October 1, 2023 in the amount of 9 million cubic meters. per day.
