The management company of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, which came under the control of VTB, may move from St. Petersburg to Moscow. Until then, the corporation may radically reduce its administrative staff. About it “Vedomosti” said five sources working at shipbuilding enterprises and in customer companies of the corporation.
According to sources, the company will most likely be located in one of the offices in Moscow City, and not in the Legion II business center, where it has worked since 2016. Vedomosti’s interlocutors do not know whether the company will move to VTB office premises in the Federation Tower or rent space. According to a source close to the corporation, moving to Moscow City makes sense: in this case, the corporation would work next to the offices of VTB and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
A representative of the corporation told Vedomosti that the question of which divisions will be located in Moscow and which in St. Petersburg is being worked out. He did not confirm the move to Moscow City or any VTB buildings.
From open sources it follows that today the parent company employs 500 people. All enterprises of the corporation employ more than 100 thousand people in 15 regions. Vedomosti’s sources at the shipyard and in the company that ordered the ship construction, as well as in one of the design bureaus, say that the headcount of the parent company will be reduced to 180 people. This figure was allegedly mentioned by the new CEO Andrei Puchkov. However, a corporation spokesman said the target strength of 180 was “never discussed.”
Earlier, the head of the VTB board, Andrei Kostin, said that the corporation has huge financial problems and that the shipbuilding industry is “all the time being sucked in by the state.” In 2022, the corporation received about 20 billion rubles. net loss with revenue of 350 billion rubles.
