USC may become the owner of Vostochnaya Verf

The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) is showing interest in the struggling Vostochnaya Verf, which has filed for bankruptcy. USC may invest 12 billion rubles in the development of a shipbuilding enterprise located in Vladivostok. This was stated by the Minister of Industry and Trade of Primorye Sergey Kalitin.
Recall that in October, Vostochnaya Verf sent an application to arbitration to declare it bankrupt. From data It also follows from the court file that in recent months a lot of claims have been filed against the company, the amount of claims for which exceeds tens of millions of rubles.
On the meeting Committee on Economic Policy and Property of the Parliament of Primorye concluded that the reason for the difficult financial situation of JSC “Vostochnaya Verf” was the imposition of sanctions. Due to problems with the supply of rudder propellers, main engines and diesel generators, radio navigation systems, automation and other equipment to Russia, there is a risk of breach of contracts.
JSC Vostochnaya Verf is a shipbuilding company founded in 1952, located in Vladivostok. In 1994, the plant was transformed into a joint-stock company. From the 1950s to the 2000s, the enterprise built more than 400 ships for the Navy, border forces and fishing organizations. More than 30 units of military equipment from this enterprise were exported to eight countries of the world, including Vietnam, Iraq and China.
To assess the situation at Vostochnaya Verf, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade set up an interdepartmental commission whose main task is to bring the enterprise out of the crisis. As follows from the message of the regional authorities, for the financial recovery of the shipbuilding enterprise, it is necessary to “resolve the issue of changing the key investor, who will take on both the debt and social burden, fulfill all obligations and conditions under state defense orders and civil contracts.”
Such an investor, according to Minister Kalitin, could be the United Shipbuilding Corporation. “USC plans to invest about 12 billion rubles in the assets and fixed assets of the shipyard, including the purchase of a new floating dock, lengthening the outfitting embankment, changing internal logistics,” the press service of the Parliament of Primorye reports with reference to Minister Kalitin. “There is an understanding of the Department of State Defense Order of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation about additional provision of the plant with orders in the event of a change in financial and production policy and a key investor,” Kalitin said.
Currently, according to the regional authorities, Vostochnaya Verf is operating normally, fulfilling orders under civil contracts. He has no payroll or tax arrears.
By data Primorye media, the main shareholder (36.99%) of Vostochnaya Verf JSC is Gennady Lazarev, a former deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Primorye. It was not possible to get a comment from Mr. Lazarev to Kommersant today.
