US regulator subpoenas Musk to testify on Twitter purchase

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as part of an investigation into the legality of the purchase of Twitter by American entrepreneur Elon Musk, filed a lawsuit to force the new owner of the social network to testify. About it reported Reuters citing the SEC statement.
According to the publication, Musk received a requirement to appear in court in San Francisco in May 2023 and agreed – the hearing was scheduled for September 15, but two days before that the businessman “raised several false objections” and did not come.
In addition, Musk also refused to testify in Texas in October or November of this year. Among his objections were allegations that the SEC was allegedly pursuing Musk and that his lawyer needed more time to study potentially important facts about the entrepreneur’s biography.
American billionaire Musk is officially became owner of Twitter on October 27, 2022. The transaction value was $44 billion. Musk explained the purchase of the social network with the desire to create a platform “where a wide range of beliefs can be discussed in a healthy environment without resorting to violence.” Now social network renamed in X, it happened on July 24th.
