Uganda, together with KamAZ, plans to start building a plant for the production of trucks for export to Africa. Moses Kawaaluuko Kizige, Ambassador of Uganda to Russia, announced the conclusion of the corresponding agreement to RIA Novosti.
“We are also open to cooperation with Russian automakers, for example, we recently signed an agreement with KamAZ on the construction of a plant for the production of trucks in Uganda in order to sell them on the African market,” the ambassador said.
According to him, Uganda has recently launched the production of its own electric vehicles, which can also be exported to Russia.
KamAZ has assembly plants in Vietnam, Kazakhstan, as well as Pakistan and India. The assembly is carried out from components supplied from KamAZ. In August 2018, KamAZ initiated the creation of a subsidiary in Jakarta, which became a hub for a car plant in Indonesia and received the status of an official importer. In November 2019, a branded car center was opened in Cuba.
