Two former members of the Forbes list renounced Russian citizenship

The founders of American IT companies Veeam Software and Object First, Andrei Baronov and Ratmir Timashev, renounced Russian citizenship, reported Forbes businessman acquaintance. They went through this procedure at the Russian Embassy in Cyprus. Now businessmen only have Cypriot citizenship. According to Forbes, Mr. Baronov’s fortune in 2020 is $770 million, Mr. Timashev’s is $680 million.
Andrei Baronov announced the submission of documents to renounce Russian citizenship back in 2023 on his account on the social network LinkedIn, which is blocked in the Russian Federation. In the post, he criticized the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine and said that he had donated millions of dollars to reputable humanitarian organizations that helped “displaced Ukrainians on Ukrainian territory.” The businessman initiated the renunciation of Russian citizenship in April 2023, this issue was resolved in December of the same year, Forbes writes from the words of an acquaintance of Mr. Baronov.
Ratmir Timashev, as Forbes found out, renounced Russian citizenship in January 2024. Mr. Timashev himself confirmed this information to the publication.
Andrei Baronov and Ratmir Timashev became the eighth and ninth businessmen from among current and former members of the Forbes list to renounce Russian citizenship since the beginning of 2022. In particular, the founder of Troika Dialog previously renounced Russian citizenship Ruben Vardanyanformer billionaire, founder of Tinkoff Bank Oleg Tinkov (recognized by the Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent) and former owner of the development company Coalco International Vasily Anisimov.
