The Kaliningrad contract manufacturer of TVs “Telebalt” (LLC “Telebalt T”; assembles models from Hyundai, BBK, Toshiba, etc.) plans to launch a plant in the Leningrad region in 2024, told Kommersant three interlocutors among home appliance vendors. In 2022, Telebalt announced the closure of production in the Kaliningrad region.

According to one of Kommersant’s interlocutors, the decision to close production in the Kaliningrad region was made due to rising costs and problems with logistics. The owner of Telebalt T LLC, Yulia Chinaeva, confirmed to Kommersant that the company is not currently producing products. Ms. Chinaeva declined to comment further.

According to experts, not only Telebalt, but also other Kaliningrad electronics assemblers can move their production “to the mainland”. At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade claims that enterprises are adapting and at the end of 2023, an increase in “manufacturing industries” was observed in the region.
