Turkish Ministry of Transport: Only four tankers with oil in the Bosphorus did not provide insurance documents

Four foreign crude oil tankers stuck in a traffic jam off the Bosphorus in Turkey have failed to provide insurance papers under the strait regulations introduced on Dec. 1. This was reported by the press service of the Maritime Affairs Department of the Ministry of Transport of Turkey.
“Out of 26 tankers, 22 provided letters confirming their insurance, which is required by our country. In total, taking into account the ships that passed through the Bosphorus today, 19 ships have completed the passage through the straits since December 1,” the department said on Twitter. They added that there are no tankers in the Aegean and Marmara Seas that have not provided insurance documents.
In early December in the Bosporus and Dardanelles appeared cork from tankers with oil. This happened after the European Union and the G7 countries imposed a price ceiling on Russian oil. As a result, Turkey began to request documents that confirm insurance for tankers.
December 12, the only tanker with Russian oil passed Bosphorus and reached the Sea of Marmara. In Turkey reportedthat there were no other tankers with oil from Russia in the traffic jam.
