Today, April 8, the administration of US President Joe Biden announcedthat the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, the Taiwanese company Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC), will receive up to $6.6 billion from the US authorities to build factories in Arizona.

The funds will be allocated to the American division of TSMC, in addition, it may be given a loan of $5 billion. Thus, the total amount that the company will receive will exceed $11 billion. TSMC is going to build three factories in Arizona for the production of modern chips and invest $65 billion in the project .

The decision to allocate money to the Taiwanese company was made as part of a $52.7 billion investment program in the development and production of chips in the United States based on the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022. Previously, American authorities had already announced several large projects, including allocated $8.5 billion from Intel to expand chip production.
