Transportation of containers in gondola cars launched from Primorye to Moscow region

Ugol-Trans, together with Logoper LLC, launched the transportation of containers in gondola cars from the Nakhodka station (Primorsky Territory) to the Elektrougli station (Moscow highway). The first train consists of 57 wagons with universal large-capacity containers. The train will pass through the Apparatnaya station (Sverdlovsk road), where the containers will be reloaded onto fitting platforms and sent to the Moscow region.

Ugol-Trans expects to switch to regular transportation using this technology, which should help increase the carrying capacity of the Eastern landfill. “Empty gondola cars are returned loaded with containers, the need to send empty fitting platforms to the Far East is reduced,” said Khasyan Zyabirov, general director of the company (quoted by Interfax).

According to him, in the Far East there is a need for the export of containers to the Urals and the central regions of Russia. It is assumed that the number of containers sent in gondola cars of Ugol-Trans in the direction of the Uralsky terminal, as well as the Sibirsky terminal (Novosibirsk region, will open in 2023) can reach 5-6.8 thousand units per month.

Russian Railways reported difficulties with the export of containers, including those following from Korea to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan through the Vostochny port in Nakhodka, along the Far Eastern Railway. It was proposed to solve the problem by installing containers in gondola cars that unloaded coal in the port. The monopoly announced its initiative in a letter to the Union of Railway Transport Operators in August, Kommersant learned.
