Transneft stopped pumping oil to Poland due to lack of payment

The Russian company Transneft, one of the operators of the Druzhba pipeline, announced that it had stopped the transportation of oil towards Poland. The company was supposed to pump oil to Polish refineries at the end of February, but the route orders were not issued and paid. This was reported to TASS by the official representative of Transneft Igor Demin.

According to a company representative, Transneft transports raw materials abroad on the basis of an export schedule approved by the Russian Ministry of Energy and route orders issued by shippers.

“Route orders with a confirmed resource and payment for transit were not issued. In addition, operational changes were made to the schedule, excluding deliveries to Polish consumers. In this regard, Transneft does not transport oil in the direction of Poland,” Igor Demin said.

February 25 Polish Orlen stated on the termination of oil supplies from Russia. She received oil under an agreement with Tatneft. The head of Orlen, Daniel Obaitek, said that only 10% of raw materials came from Russia, and these deliveries can be replaced with raw materials from other directions.

In “Transneft” spoke, that in February they are ready to deliver 20 thousand tons of oil from Kazakhstan through Russia, Belarus, Poland to Germany along the northern branch of the Friendship. Poland agreed to accept Russian oil and bought 500 thousand tons of raw materials in January.

On December 5, the EU embargo on sea shipments of Russian oil came into force. The ban does not apply to transportation through the Druzhba pipeline. However, Germany and Poland have said they will voluntarily phase out oil from Russia from early 2023.
