Transneft shipped 82 million tons of oil by sea in January-July 2022

In the first seven months of this year, Transneft shipped 82 million tons of oil and oil products by sea, a year earlier this figure was 63 million tons. This was announced by the company’s president Nikolai Tokarev. According to him, the volume of Transneft deliveries from Russia to the Asian direction has grown, the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) oil pipeline is operating at maximum capacity.
“In accordance with the wishes of our customers, we have rebuilt logistics chains. In some directions, primarily Asian, the volume of deliveries has increased. The ESPO oil pipeline is operating at maximum capacity,” Mr. Tokarev said (quoted by RIA Novosti).
He noted that despite Western sanctions, oil supplies for export are proceeding normally, Transneft is successfully coping with the restrictions. “The interaction with the main partners, including the main export directions, has been maintained,” the head of the oil pipeline company said.
Mr. Tokarev also announced an increase in the volume of transportation of oil and oil products within Russia. He recalled the temporary suspension of exports via the southern branch of the Druzhba pipeline in August. He believes that this happened due to the actions of unfriendly countries, which, in his opinion, were guided by political motives.
“However, thanks to the immediate and constructive support of our partners in Hungary, this artificial obstacle was quickly overcome. We consider this not only a production achievement, but also a convincing demonstration of our correctness and the strength of our long-term cooperation with colleagues in Europe,” Mr. Tokarev said.
Deliveries along the southern branch of Druzhba were suspended to the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia on August 4. Transneft said that Western sanctions prevented the payment of transit fees to Ukraine. Later, European countries paid for transit, and supplies resumed.
