Transfers from Russia to Uzbekistan increased by 2.6 times in 2022

Russia maintains its leading position in remittances to Uzbekistan. At the end of 2022, their volume increased by 2.6 times compared to 2021 and amounted to $14.5 billion, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the press service of the Uzbek Central Bank.
According to the results of 2022, the number of money transfers to Uzbekistan from abroad increased by 2.1 times and reached a record high of $16.9 billion. According to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the volume of transfers from Russia has become the highest compared to other countries. Over the past year, the Russians transferred 85% of the total volume of transfers received in Uzbekistan.
The volume of transfers from Uzbekistan to foreign countries increased by 29%, to $2.1 billion. The press service specified that Turkey and China remain the leading recipient countries in connection with the so-called “shuttle” trade with these states.
Over the entire past year, the Russians withdrew 2.5 trillion rubles to foreign deposits. The largest outflow of money from the country was recorded in the third quarter. At that time, foreign deposits received 1.5 trillion rubles, which is 26 times more than same period of 2021.
